The skipper

David

I am a Yacht Captain and Professional Skipper.
I started sailing more than 20 years ago and I remember that when we did the PER practices and spent the night anchored in Cala Joncols, next to Cadaqués, the sensations were so special that I realised I had discovered another world. Since then I have sailed over 20,000 miles in different seas, mainly the Mediterranean.

Until 2018 I worked in the Credit Insurance sector but there came a time when I decided to change the course of my life, never better said. I decided that I wanted to stop living on “autopilot”. I wanted to choose my path in life and not have her choose it for me, as had happened until then. I didn't want to continue working just for money in a job that I no longer identified with or wait until I retired to do what I wanted, as often happens.

I decided to focus on the most valuable thing I have, my time, and spend it on what I am passionate about, what fulfills me and makes me happy, such as sharing the boat with other people, sailing, spending the night anchored in a cove, dining and talking under the stars, getting up in the morning surrounded by the sea, taking a dip at dawn, contemplating a wonderful sunset... is like being in another world, away from the noise on land and enjoying the silence of the sea.

I have turned my passion and my hobby into my professional activity and I have made my work a place where, both the people who come to Ikigai and I, share and enjoy special, often unforgettable moments.

When I'm on land I like to go out on my bike, swim, do yoga, walk in the mountains, ski, write as soon as I wake up, read, play the guitar, meditate, photography, theater, music, meet friends, chat with my neighbors in the port or simply go to the breakwater to watch the sunset and listen to the sea.
