EL MASNOU - MARESME and COSTA BRAVA

Destinations

Ikigai Base Port, El Masnou is a coastal municipality just 20km away from Barcelona, located to the south of the Maresme region and very well connected to the capital both by car and by train as the station has direct access to the marina and in just 25m takes you to the centre of Barcelona.

One of its main assets is the legacy of the nautical industry. In the 18th and 19th centuries, it was, together with Arenys de Mar, the fishing and naval centre of the Maresme. Today, it still has a fishing port, although reduced to a few boats. In the Municipal Nautical Museum, you can discover the heritage of navigators and sailors and what life was like in the town at that time.

The itinerary “El Masnou, land of the sea” will take us through the narrow and steep streets of the old town where we can observe the Modernist legacy and the numerous houses of Indians who made their fortune in America. The relationship with the sea remains alive and close with its more than three kilometres of beach and its marina, a nerve centre for leisure and restoration, where all types of nautical activities are practiced.

The Mediterranean climate of El Masnou with its hot summers and mild winters makes it a privileged place to enjoy the sea all year round.

The most common departures in El Masnou are:

Half day (4h): perfect outing in the autumn and winter months where you can enjoy a beautiful day of sailing or a beautiful sunset over Barcelona and then have fun with port life, full of restaurants and leisure places where you can eat and dine, have a drink, listen to live music and dance.

Full day (8h): more recommended in spring and summer because the good weather will allow us, after unfurling the sails and sailing wherever the wind takes us, to anchor in front of the beach, take a dip, take a paddle surf ride, drink sunbathe on deck and eat in the boat's cockpit. A perfect plan for a perfect day.

Weekend: weekend rentals will allow you to savour life on the boat. In addition to unfolding the sails and anchoring the boat to swim, we will sail to one of the nearby ports of Mataró, Arenys de Mar or Port Balís in Llavaneres where we will sleep moored and enjoy the seafaring life. Suppose instead of visiting the Maresme we decide to visit Barcelona, we will be delighted by the beauty of the city and its unique buildings seen from the sea. In that case, we will spend the night in one of its ports enjoying the leisure and nightlife it has to offer.

Week: seven days allows for plenty of sailing adventures. We can reach the coastal city of Blanes, where the famous Costa Brava begins, from El Masnou in about 5 hours. Once there, we can navigate along its impressive coast, its numerous and admired coves and its fishing ports from Blanes to Cadaqués, passing through Tossa de Mar, Palamós, Begur, Las Illes Medes or the Gulf of Roses, among other magical places. It is a unique experience to visit this stretch of coast from the sea and discover corners, places and coves full of seafaring history. Anchoring in Cadaqués is perhaps one of the most beautiful seafaring experiences you can have.
